Google Adsense Profits Mixed In With Affiliate Marketing

Why affiliate marketing?

Well, simply because affiliate marketing is the easiest and probably the best way to earn profits online, unless you are a businessman and prefer to sell your own products online rather than advertising other businessmen's products on your site.  But even online retailers can benefit from affiliate marketing programs, because affiliate marketing works for both merchants and affiliates.

Simply put, affiliate marketing is a relationship or agreement between two websites, one being the merchant's site and the other being the affiliate's site.  In this relationship, the affiliate agrees to allow the merchant to advertise their products on their site.  The merchant, in turn, agrees to pay the affiliate in the agreed upon method.  This usually means an easy income for the affiliate, since he does nothing but place the merchant's advertisement on his site.  It would also be very beneficial to the merchant, as using affiliates to advertise their products would be much more affordable than hiring an advertising agency to promote their products.

There are a variety of methods by which the merchant can pay the affiliate for their services, and for the webmaster, these methods simply translate into the method by which they will easily make money.  Some of the most common methods of compensation include the pay-per-click method, the pay-per-lead method and the pay-per-sale method.  The pay-per-click method is the preferred method for affiliates, as all they need is for their site visitor to go to the advertiser's site and they will earn money.  The other two methods, on the other hand, are preferred by merchants because they will only have to pay you if your visitor becomes one of their registrants or if the visitor actually buys their products. 

Getting a lot of profit from affiliate marketing programs, however, does not depend so much on the compensation method as on the traffic generated by your site.  A website that is able to attract more visitors is usually more likely to benefit from affiliate marketing programs.

What about Google Adsense?

Google Adsense is actually a kind of affiliate marketing program.  In Google Adsense, Google acts as an intermediary between affiliates and merchants.  The merchant, or advertiser, simply registers with Google and provides Google with text ads for their products.  These ads, which are actually a link to the advertiser's website, then appear in Google searches and on websites owned by affiliates or webmasters who have signed up for the Google Adsense program.

While there are many similarities between Google Adsense and other affiliate marketing programs, there are also many differences.  In Google Adsense, all the webmaster has to do is place a code on his website and Google takes care of the rest.  The ads that Google will place on your site will usually be related to the content of your site.  This is an advantage for both you and the advertiser, as visitors to your site will be more or less interested in the products being advertised.

The Google Adsense program pays the affiliate on a pay-per-click basis.  Advertisers pay Google a certain amount each time their ad on your site is clicked and Google then sends you that amount by check, but only after Google has deducted its share of the amount.  Google Adsense checks are usually issued monthly.  In addition, the Google Adsense program provides webmasters with a tracking tool that allows you to monitor the revenue you are actually getting from a certain ad.

So where does all this leave us?

What else but profits, profits and more profits!  Affiliate marketing programs and the Google Adsense program simply work, whether you are the merchant or the affiliate.  On the merchant side, a lot of money can be saved if the advertising effort is focused on affiliate marketing rather than dealing with advertising agencies.  For the webmaster, you can easily earn a lot of profit by simply doing what you do best, which is creating websites.  And if you combine all your profits from Google Adsense and other affiliate marketing programs, you will certainly get a great deal of money.
